MONKEY D. LUFFY.
AVAILABLE/DESIGN ENGINEER · CAPTAIN/GRAND LINE --:-- LOG

I’m gonna be King of the Engineers.

I’m Luffy — design engineer, captain of a nine-person crew, and the guy who ships the component systems, motion and tokens that let a whole fleet build fast. I don’t want to rule anyone. I just want the freest codebase on the Grand Line.

01About

I ate the Gum-Gum Fruit when I was seven: lost the ability to swim, gained a body that stretches to fit any shape. Turns out that’s also the job — building the layer that bends so nothing above it has to break.

Nine years across two oceans of product work, and a crew who are each better than me at the thing they own — navigation, swordsmanship, cooking, front-end architecture. My job is simple: point the ship forward, keep the primitives sharp, and make sure nobody aboard ever has to give up what they came for.

Staff Design Engineer · Thousand Sunny Labs
2023 — NOW

Captain of a nine-person crew building the motion, token and component layer the whole fleet ships on. Everyone owns their deck; I keep the ship pointed forward.

Senior Frontend Engineer · Water Seven Shipworks
2020 — 2023

Rebuilt the component library and live theming engine after the old one took on water. Cut new-feature UI time roughly in half.

Design Engineer · Baratie
2018 — 2020

Owned the ordering UI where a hundred covers a night meant a 100ms hesitation cost a table. Learned that taste is a spec, not an opinion.

Frontend Engineer · Cocoyasi Charts
2016 — 2018

First design hire. Set the visual language and front-end architecture for a mapping tool, from one dinghy to a real fleet.

Component registry that stretches

A copy-paste registry of animated React primitives — you own every line. Springs that snap back, buttons that push, a rainbow motion system distributed shadcn-style.

Token pipeline & theming engine

One source of truth in, CSS + TS types + Figma variables out. Points the whole product at the same island even when the brand changes course.

Realtime collaborative canvas

A multiplayer canvas experiment — WebGL rendering over a CRDT sync layer, holding 60fps with a hundred live cursors on screen and nobody dropping the call.

Design-system adoption analytics

Puts a number on every component: who actually uses it, which props get overridden, and where the system is quietly being worked around.

Open-source icon set & editor

A 900-glyph line-icon set with a browser editor that exports optimized SVG, React and a Figma library in one pass. Flags you can actually fly.

Haki2022
A11y linting for component libraries

Sees the regression coming before it lands — contrast, focus order and ARIA caught at the component boundary, not in review.
